Our unique blend of Cedar Wood Chip and dried Lavender is a non-toxic and natural moth repellent due to its strong, distinctive scent, which disrupt the moths' ability to detect food sources and their own pheromones. While humans find the scent delightful, the moths find it appalling! 

Cedar, particularly the oil, contains compounds like cedrol that have a strong, camphor-like smell. This scent masks the scent of keratin, a protein found in clothing, which is a food source for moth larvae. By masking this scent, cedar wood makes it harder for moths to locate suitable areas to lay their eggs.

Lavender contains various aromatic compounds, including linalool and linalyl acetate, which contribute to its distinctive scent. This scent is also disliked by moths and disrupts their ability to detect pheromones, which are used for communication and finding mates. By disrupting these signals, lavender makes it more difficult for moths to navigate and reproduce.

We use Organic Lavender from a small co-operative of growers in France, and the Cedar Wood Chip is kiln dried timber off cuts from a UK sawmill.
