All wonderful things come in threes right? Well, Rachel of Unwind Knitwear has definitely pulled everything out the hat for this one! Folklore is a simple yet eye-catching design with delicate colourwork borders, inspired by relaxed summer days. The design can be worked as a waistcoat, V-neck vest, or tee.
As soon as I laid eyes on this beauty, I felt the urge to knit it in Vivacious Botanicals, really making those delicate borders come to their right. Vivacious Botanical is a very special version of our favourite Fyberspates Vivacious range. This high twist merino range is botanically dyed to create a soft cohesive palette of colours, which in my humble opinion will heighten the stunningness of this design even more – truly making it shine!
The majority of the garment is worked flat, from the top down. The stitches for the back are cast on first, with increases worked to shape the armhole, you then work the front pieces, before joining to work the body in the round. Stitches are picked up around the front centre and a combination of stranded colourwork and linen stitch is worked, to form the waistband and neckband simultaneously. At the bind off, you can choose to seam the front of the body together or leave the front open.
Measurements for closed front:

We've done the math for you, so according to your size the Folklore Yarn Kit contains all the yarn you need to make the short sleeved tee, the sleeveless vest or the waistcoat, and it can be bought with or without the pattern. In addition you'll need circular needles size 2.75mm / US2 (to work back, front and body; varying cable lengths would be helpful) plus either one cable length of 150-200cm / 60-100” or two shorter cable lengths (to work the neckband and waistband simultaneously, a 3.25mm / US3 needle for bind off only, spare cables or scrap yarn to keep sts on hold, 6 stitch markers and a darning needle for weaving in your ends. Optional: 2.75mm / US2 DPNs can be used for an I-Cord tie.
