The pink ribbon has become the universal symbol of breast cancer, illustrating the cause, raising awareness and bringing together women in solidarity. The pink ribbon and October are associated with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a global effort to raise awareness and educate people about breast cancer. October 2024, Hillesvåg gives us a special edition Pink Ribbon Forgarn, where 10% of all their sales will go to the Norwegian Cancer Society. Please note, when it is gone it is gone!
Forgarn in 100% Norwegian Autumn Wool is a soft and squishy pre-yarn which means the fiber has been carded but no twist has been added, so the strands remain unspun.
Wound onto generous cakes double stranded, Forgarn's twist-free strands and unique fibreblend make up a rare and high-quality yarn which creates the most wholehearty and characterful fabric when knit up. While quite fragile in itself, once knit, the yarn becomes strong, very hardwearing, whilst magically maintaining its airiness and bounce. You can knit with this yarn however you like - held single, held double or with a strand of another fiber (such as mohair or alpaca). Holding the yarn double will greatly increase the durablility of the yarn as well as the ease of the knitting experience, however with a bit of practise and a gentle hand you will master the unspun wool in no time.
Please note that due to the nature of the production process the Forgarn yarn cakes will vary in weight between 150g and 250g. As each cake is of such a voluptious size, we can only allow for up to 6 cakes to be included in each purchase. If more is needed please split your orders. This is to maintain sustainable shipping costs.
