Knit with Attitude
Yarn Kit – Attune Shawl by Andrea Mowry
Andrea's Attune Shawl is all about texture and squish, playing with fibres, weights and colour combinations to create exciting movements between them all. The inspiration behind this shawl is to combine your favourites, mash them together and see the play of everything come to life in a shawl that just begs to be wrapped around you.
Here at Knit with attitude, the challenge was of course accepted, and we are overjoyed with the awesome yarn kits we came up with for your knitting pleasures!
Thanks to the flexibility of this design you can play around with anything from light 4Ply to heavy DK, creating the most beautiful of contrasts between the textured stitch patterns. Attune is knit from the top down using Brioche and Half-fishermen’s rib. It is very customizable for different yarn weights and to achieve different sizes.
Andrea recommends pairing one lighter weight yarn with one heavier weight yarn. In the two samples she made she swaps the dynamic between the two. For sample 1 (pictured in Turquoise) the Main Colour is the heavier of the two DK and Sport, For sample 2 (pictured in Pink) the MC is the lighter one of the two, Light 4ply and 4Ply.
Andrea says about this design:
“The options are really endless for this shawl. I would choose anything from Fingering to DK weight and solids, marls, speckles, and variegated will all look amazing!”
Our yarn kits are based on the yarn weigth used and calculations made for Andrea's two samples:
For the Heavier version (Turquoise) we simply adore the idea of using the Fyberspates handdyed Vivacious range combining the DK and 4ply. Pictured are Main Colour to the left, with three Contrast Colours, the kit quantity is 3x Vivacious DK 115g and 3x Vivacious 4Ply 100g.
For the Lighter version (Pink) we could not resist putting the naturally dyed G-uld No.4 and Alpaca together. Pictured are Main Colour to the left, with three Contrast Colours, the kit quantity is 1x G-uld No. 4 100g and 6x Alpaca 50g.
The Attune Yarn Kit can be bought with or without the pattern, in addition you'll need circular needles size 3.5mm / US4 80-100cm/32-40”, 4 stitch markers and a darning needle for weaving in your ends.
