Garthenor
Snowdonia Sock – Harlech
Garthenor’s mission is to promote and provide a variety of sustainable, organic & British yarns in an ecologically responsible way. Their aim is to help secure the future of British organic agriculture and the British textile industry. All the wool you’ll see under the Garthenor name have been certified to global organic standards.
Garthenor started in the 1990s, with wool produced from their own sheep. Since then they expanded faster than their flock, and now they buy raw fleeces from around the UK directly from the farmer – no middle man, which means all Garthenor wool is fully traceable from sheep to hank.
Garthenor's artisan yarns are produced from wool sourced directly from the finest certified organic flocks in the UK, and are carefully blended to produce deep, heathery, and also duotoned shades in a wonderful palettes.
Garthenor Snowdonia Sock is a 4ply/fingering strong enough for practical wear. High twist, worsted spun Romney and Hebridean make up this yarn. Specifically designed as a durable, straightforward base, the stunning undyed gradient is achieved simply by mill-blending the buttery smooth tops. Everything about Snowdonia Sock is deliberate: the fibre is chosen for it's strong, smooth characteristics, the twist has been carefully measured to keep the gorgeous integrity of these two breeds whilst achieving the necessary long-lasting ruggedness of a good, honest sock yarn.
