Sustainability in Production – Talk with Jonny King of Garthenor - Saturday 11th February
We talk a lot about sustainability and the environmental impacts of yarn production. But what does this 'sustainability' mean, what does it entail when coming to creating our much loved strands of joy, and how can we as consumers make sure our yarns are good for the planet?
Join us for the day with Jonny King of Garthenor Organic, who will visit our shop holding a talk about all the wonders of Garthenor and how they are breaking ground as a sustainable yarn producer. There is of course time to answer all the questions you might have, and we have a wonderful selection of designs and yarns for you to squish and fondle. Beverages and light snacks at hand.
Since joining Garthenor Organic in 2017, Jonny has advocated sustainable, transparent production through strong relationships with farmers, mills and dyehouses, striving for growth in the UK organic textile industry. With a background in design, he has overseen the transformation to a modern, innovative brand at the forefront of the sustainable yarn movement.
Garthenor's mission is simple: to make only 100% certified organic yarn without compromise, ever. Totally traceable, completely climate positive and outstandingly organic. They were the first company in the world to make yarn that was certified organic from sheep to shelf, and they’ve never stopped being planet-loving trailblazers.
