Have you seen the latest issue of Pom Pom magazine yet? Issue 29 takes its inspiration from tiles and repeating motifs. This summer issue is packed with inspiring projects to fill your summer wardrobe. So what better time than on a day that feels like summer is deserting us and the rain doesn’t show signs of stopping. Lets keep our faith that sunny weather will return, by announcing a give away. We love the Minton by Isa Catepillán so we are giving you a chance to win the yarn to make it, plus a copy of Pom Pom 29. So reach for your crochet hook and head over to social media for a chance of winning.
All you need to do is head over to Facebook or Instagram @knitwithattitude. Like or follow us. Like the competition post and tag or mention two friends in the comments you think might want to join in on the fun.
We will draw the winner Thursday June 13th midday UK time, and yes, we will ship the prize to wherever you are!
Below I have pulled some great colour combos that I think the Minton will look perfect in, so pick your favourite! You will win one yarn kit below of your choice, which consists of 4 skeins of Växbo Lingarn, 3 for the Main Colour and 1 for the Contrast Colour. Plus an issue of Pom Pom 29.
Earthy – Brick red tones make up this warm combo, combined with a subtle natural colour. Like a smartly pointed brick wall. Växbo Lingarn in Pale Bleached and Brick Red.
Shoreline – The cool waves lapping the sandy shores make this the perfect combo for taking to the beach. Växbo Lingarn in Light Blue and Umbra
Nature Lover – The harmonious combination of these two greens give a natural tree canopy vibe. Växbo Lingarn in Olive Green and Moss Green.
Blue and White – This combo brings to mind traditional ceramics with their blue and white decorations. Växbo Lingarn in Bleached and Blue.
Neon Flash – This striking combo sets one of the brightest against a base of dark grey. Like a neon sign illuminated on a grey day. Växbo Lingarn in Lime and Graphite.
If anyone has been following me on instagram you may have noticed that I have started a Knit Along. I’ve had the Kleur Shawl by Anna Maltz on my to do list ever since I first saw it. I love the shape, the possibility of combining colours and how effective simple stitches can be in producing something beautiful. After I wrote a colour inspiration post a couple weeks back I was hooked.
The Kleur Shawl comes in small and large sizes. Using a series of mini skeins for the rainbow wedge combined with a white, black and grey stripes for a contrast. Approximately 10/15g for the Spectrum Colour and approximately 60/70g for the main colours. It’s a perfect stash buster project as you can use up odd pieces for the rainbow spectrum, or go all out and pick out some favourite mini skeins. You don’t have to be tied down to the same fibre, I’m really enjoying playing with texture as well. Throwing together smooth merinos with hairy British wools for a fun juxtaposition.
The KAL has been going for a little while on instagram but things are getting more fun. I’m going to make it a little competition. I love to see the progress of people knitting along and it’s always quite exciting to be knitting along with other people. Also Anna Maltz has kindly donated one of her patterns for the winner! How exciting is that!
So to be in for a chance to win and for me to keep track of entrants drop me an email at: george(at)knitwithattitude(dot)com saying you would like to enter. Then tag all your instagram posts as #KleurShawlKAL. When you have finished post you’re finished shawl with the hashtag #KleurShawlKAL. The deadline will be 20th of March (Just in time for the Edinburgh Yarn Fest!). I will draw the winner at random a person from who has signed up and posted their #KleurShawlKAL finished shawl post.
Currently mine is coming along very well, I have finished the rainbow wedge and yarn over stripes. I’m in love with it. From the clever construction which feels like you are always knitting to a goal to the Black Elephant mini colours which are dreamy. This was destined to be a gift for a friend but I can see myself keeping it. I’m looking forward to how everyone else interprets this great pattern.
If you have followed our social media platforms lately you might have noticed that we have been hosting a give away over the last ten days – and it is now time to reveal the winners!

We are very excited to announce the winner of our draw on Saturday for Yarn Shop Day. Congratulations to Gail! She won 4 balls of Blacker rare breeds yarn. They include a Pure Polwarth in cream, Manx wool with Mohair, in a natural tan, Pure Black Welsh Mountain wool in almost black, and a Gotland in dyed blue.
Saturday was the kick off for our Summer Top KAL/CAL. It was fun to see the garments that people were planning for, we can’t wait to see them made up! Here in the shop we have cast on an infinity snood for a shop sample in The Fibre Co.’s Meadow. It’s an unusual blend of wool, baby llama, silk and linen. Despite the blend we think it would make a great summer top, and we can’t wait to show you the sample when it’s done, you’ll be able to give it a squish in person and see for yourself!
If you are planning on participating in the KAL/CAL we are over on the Ravelry group talking about our makes, feel free to join in! There is also still a 10% on all yarns that contain cotton, linen, bamboo or silk in the online shop if you need to pick up some yarn. The promotion runs until Sunday at midnight!
We would also like to announce the prizes for participants of the KAL/CAL! We will draw from finished garments posted in our FO thread by midnight on July 31st. First prize will be a gift certificate of £50 to spend online or in the shop. Second and Third prize will be goodie bags filled with yarn and patterns.
I’m completely overwhelmed by the response, look at all these brilliant summer knits! And there’s even more, just do a search using #kwasummer to see all the wonderful contributions to our photo sharing summer fun.
And the winners are: jamisohomummy, elisabethstanghotvedt, misscara
Please send me an email with your details to maya(at)knitwithattitude(dot)com and the goody bag will be on it’s way shortly!
What’s your summer knitting project? I’m on my way back home to Norway for my summer holiday and just popped by the shop to make sure I have enough yarn for my summer knits. It seems like I’ve got sleeves issues these days, as this is what’s left to do on several of my projects, and now I hope to finish them while on holiday. Something I made sure to pick up from the shop is the Lantern Moon ‘Stitch Red’ Square Clip Knitting Bag, which is brilliant for travelling. It is spacious, which allows for several projects and yarn balls, and all bits and pieces are easily stored in practical pockets.
I’m completely addicted to tote bags and seriously have no idea of how many different ones I’ve got already, but when spotting the Will Flirt for Gin tote at Of Cabbages & Kings I just fell so in love with it that I had to have it. Not only is it really cool, it is sturdy to, so that I can easily bring my project with me when we’re out and about.
This is Larch by Amy Christoffers, which I’m doing on 3mm needles in Scrumptious 4 Ply – Jen’s Green. The large Stockinette Stitch sections have been a huge test for my patience, but as you can see the body is done and I’ve started the sleeves. I love love love this design and how it comes out in my chosen yarn, I really can’t wait to have it done and to wrap myself in it!
When travelling I try to bring varied projects to prevent me from getting bored, and since Larch is done with thin yarn and needles, I want to bring a quick knit too. This is my Make-it-up-as-I-go-Cardi. It is done on 5mm needles in the softest Pima cotton, Shiny Happy Cotton from Wool and the Gang, in Yellow Brick Road and Jog Grey. This is definitely my favourite project this summer. Look at that yellow! Every time I start a yellow round the brightness of this colour makes me so happy!
As I was taking these pictures to show you my summer knits I had this idea. I really want to see your projects, and where you are bringing them too. Lets share our summer knits with each other, and why not make an Instagram Give Away out of it as well! Follow my Instagram and use hashtag #kwasummer to show off your summer knits, when I return to London in two weeks time I’ll make a little gallery here on the blog for us all to admire. We’ll do a draw and three of you will receive a summery goody bag from Knit with attitude. Now go grab those smart phones and start snapping some pics, I can’t wait to see what you are up to this summer!
I’m feeling rather festive, and have decided to run a give away on the blog. And this time the prize is rather amazing, I am giving away a goody bag filled with lovely woolliness worth nothing less than £50, and that is a lot of wool people! So to get your name in ‘the hat’ this is what you have to do: Spread the word! I’ve come up with several ways to do this, and you can choose to do one or more of the following.
Twitter – Tweet about the give away, and remember to include a link to the blog. (I am @MayaKnits by the way) This will earn you one entry to the draw.
Facebook – Post about the give away, and remember to include a link to the blog. This will earn you one entry to the draw.
Blogging – Write a little something about Knit with attitude and our give away, and again, remember to include a link to the blog. This will give you two entries to the draw.
Finally, comment on this blog post to let me know what you have done. Remember to include your twitter name, facebook name and/or blog address, so that I can check your entries.
We’ll do the draw Wednesday November 20th, and the winner will be announced here on the blog.
HURRAY! Now go on and spread the word!!!
Please note, this picture is used as illustration and does not necessarily reflect the content of the goody bag.
Occasionally I keep give aways, and right now there is one happening over at Knit with attitude’s facebook page. So if you’d like to get your hands on a goody bag of knitting and/or crochet books, head over and have a look, but be quick the give away ends this Saturday.
