Whoa, that was a quick one! My pouf is finished and it took me about two evenings to complete it, and I have to say I'm absolutely in love with this Jersey be Good yarn...eh...strips...eh...stuff. I'm pretty pleased with my just-start-and-see-what-happens design as well. The pouf that I have made, in addition to being a cool and comfortable accessory for any living room, is also meant to be used as storage for spare duvets. There is plenty of room, this one contains one single bed duvet and two medium sized cushions. To access the duvets easily when needed I've made this pouf with an opening. If you'd rather fill your pouf with old shredded clothes or just don't bother with an opening, the pattern also explains how to make a closed pouf. Maya's Large Pouf It is a few years since I've properly written a pattern, and although this is an incredibly easy one, I do feel a bit rusty so please let me know if you spot any mistakes. The yarn used is a crochet hook 10mm and 4 cones of Jersey be Good, 2 in each colour. Jersey be Good is an upcycled, eco-friendly product made of selvedge from the thriving textile industry. Please note that this pattern is written in UK English, BUT I've made a crochet term conversion chart that translates between UK English, US English and of course Norwegian, which you can find over here. This is a super easy project that you easily can do if you are a beginner, still it should contain enough action to keep the more experienced crocheter entertained as well. Techniques used in this pattern: Magic loop Slip stitch (sl st) chain stitch (ch st) Double crochet (dc) increase double crochet (inc dc) decrease double crochet (dec dc) Note on decreasing: Normally when doing a dc dec you put your hook through next stitch, yarn over and pull the loop through, and again the same in next stitch before you do a yarn over and pull through all three loops on your hook. However, for the pouf I changed this a bit as I think it looks neater. So the dc dec used in this pattern is; put your hook through next stitch, yarn over and pull the loop through, and again do the same in next stitch, then pull this loop through the other two loops on your hook, skipping the last yarn over you would usually do. Maya's Pouf INSTRUCTIONS With colour A, make magic loop starting with one ch st, 5dc in magic loop, close the ring of stitches with sl st around 1st ch st. You start every round with one ch st that counts as the 1st stitch in each round, every round is closed with a sl st around this 1st stitch. 1st round: 1 ch st, dc in same st, 2 dc in each dc (inc dc), close 2nd round: 1 ch st, inc dc, *dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 3rd round: 1 ch st, dc, inc dc, *2 dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 4th round: 1 ch st, 2 dc, inc dc, *3 dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 5th round: 1 ch st, 3 dc, inc dc, *4 dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 6th round: 1 ch st, 4 dc, inc dc, *5 dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 7th round: 1 ch st, 5 dc, inc dc, *6 dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 8th round: 1 ch st, 6 dc, inc dc, *7 dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 9th round: 1 ch st, 7 dc, inc dc, *8 dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 10th round: 1 ch st, 8 dc, inc dc, *9 dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 11th round: 1 ch st, 9 dc, inc dc, *10 dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 12th round: 1 ch st, 10 dc, inc dc, *11 dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 13th round: 1 ch st, 11 dc, inc dc, *12 dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 14th round: 1 ch st, 12 dc, inc dc, *13 dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 15th round: 1 ch st, 13 dc, inc dc, *14 dc, inc dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 16th round: 1 ch st, sl st every st, close 17th round: 1 ch st, sl st every st, close 18th round: 1 ch st, sl st every st, close Change to colour B: 19th round: 1 ch st, dc st every st, close 20th round: 1 ch st, dc st every st, close Change to colour A: 21st round: 1 ch st, dc st every st, close 22nd round: 1 ch st, dc st every st, close Change to colour B: 23rd round: 1 ch st, dc st every st, close 24th round: 1 ch st, dc st every st, close Change to colour A: 25th round: 1 ch st, dc st every st, close 26th round: 1 ch st, dc st every st, close Change to colour B: 27th round: 1 ch st, dc st every st, close 28th round: 1 ch st, dc st every st, close Change to colour A: 29th round: 1 ch st, dc st every st, close 30th round: 1 ch st, dc st every st, close Change to colour B: 31st round: 1 ch st, sl st every st, close 32nd round: 1 ch st, sl st every st, close 33rd round: 1 ch st, sl st every st, close This last part is made in colour B. 34th round: 1 ch st, 13 dc, dec dc, *14 dc, dec dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 35th round: 1 ch st, 12 dc, dec dc, *13 dc, dec dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 36th round: 1 ch st, 11 dc, dec dc, *12 dc, dec dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 37th round: 1 ch st, 10 dc, dec dc, *11 dc, dec dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 38th round: 1 ch st, 9 dc, dec dc, *10 dc, dec dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 39th round: 1 ch st, 8 dc, dec dc, *9 dc, dec dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 40th round: 1 ch st, 7 dc, dec dc, *8 dc, dec dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 41st round: 1 ch st, 6 dc, dec dc, *7 dc, dec dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 42nd round: 1 ch st, 5 dc, dec dc, *6 dc, dec dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 43rd round: 1 ch st, 4 dc, dec dc, *5 dc, dec dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close 44th round: 1 ch st, 3 dc, dec dc, *4 dc, dec dc*, repeat from * to * five more times, close Maya's Pouf with opening If you like to be able to open your pouf to access what's inside continue as follows: 45th round: 1 ch st, sl st every st, close Cut yarn, pull the end through the last stitch and weave in the ends.
